It may seem as though the world is falling to pieces.  As I watched the news, this weekend, the phrase “you will hear of wars, and rumors of wars” from Matthew 24:6 kept going through my mind.  (So I had to go look it up, hoping for a word of hope, and by verse 13 it was there, “the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.”)

Pastor Todd brought the many wars of the world in the last few decades into a more concrete focus on Sunday with pictures of cities destroyed by wars in the last 40 years, (from Ukraine last week, to London 1940)

Just like the people who come to Jesus with the anxious questions about how their lives might be spared, we too, have questions.

And Jesus responds by calling us all to faithfulness -

Whether God is calling us to repentance (saying “knock it off”) or comfort, we are called to faithfulness.  We are called to live together in community, to support one another, encourage one another, and always look to God for our every good.  In our church community and out in the world.

In recognizing and acting on our call to repent from those actions that drive us away from God, AND the knowledge that when we are in need of God’s comfort. My hope is that we can be strengthened by God’s comfort and bring that hope to the community around us.
