What does it mean to be great? We can compare and argue and call one another out about how each of us is great - but for those who follow Christ - greatness comes in how we attend to others. If we want to become great in the eyes of our community - we learn how to be welcoming - because, as we are reminded by Jesus' words in the Gospel, “whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me”...- Caring for a child, therefore equals greatness…
How are we doing with the welcoming of others in Jesus’ name? It does not matter what our differences are. If we commit to sharing our lives and our faith, in the end we seek what we have in common, what connects and unites us. And it may be that we simply seek to serve and love as God loves.
As you journey through this next week - take some time to consider where you find yourself in service to others. Take note of how it makes you feel. And consider where God is leading you in your attention to those around you.
