It is quite easy for us to forget that we worship a God who is Three in One, or One in Three (depending on how we come into the conversation).  Our God is a God of Community.  How fortunate for us that this is the case because it is in this picture of community that we are invited to be a part of the Three in One God.

No this does not mean that God is four in one.  We ourselves are not God, but we are invited to be a part of the community of God, and that is a powerful event.  We are invited to be a part of God’s great story in the world.  We are each an important “somebody” in the world.  It is significant in God’s great love story for His creation.  We are important to God and to the world - God the community of three.

I found this beautiful prayer which may help to give us a better picture of how we live within the community of the Trinity…

Trinity Prayer
God For Us, we call You Father,
God Alongside Us, we call You Jesus,
God Within Us, we call You Holy Spirit.
You are the Eternal Mystery
That enables, enfolds, and enlivens all things, Even us, and even me.
Every name falls short of your Goodness and Greatness.
We can only see who You are in what is. We ask for such perfect seeing.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be. Amen.

- Richard Rohr, OFM

Let us remember that we are here as the community of God.  We are called to be in the world and work for the world through the gifts of the Spirit.

Peace to you this Pentecost season, as the spirit enlightens and enlivens us.
