I have been contemplating this nuanced text over the past few days. How often do we think that we can actually serve God AND wealth? How often do we think that we can actually do it all….

Pastor Todd’s sermon this Sunday was titled “Get Smart”, a reminder for us to be smart about how we live and work with one another. “Figure out how the system works and then work it - not for selfish gain, but be children of the light for the Kin-dom of God.”

We need to be able to know how to speak the language of both worlds in word and deed so that we can be building up communication rather than breaking down relationships.

It is an important lesson for us. How do we come into conversation and work at living out God’s word in the world without causing unnecessary pain?

One of the ways I believe we do best at living in the world as God’s people is to remember and LIVE in prayer.

Melanie reminded us of a wonderful “finger prayer” during the children’s sermon that each of us can use and implement easily in daily life. If you didn’t get a chance to hear the Children’s sermon I am including a link to help remember the practice with a handy (pun intended) description!

Hold your hands together and put your thumbs next to your heart - then pray finger by finger... www.diowestmo.org/formation_fivefingerprayer.html

We can all learn to pray again and again.

Let us continue to find ways to remember.
