“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.” - John 16:12
Trinity Sunday is a time to reflect on the mystery of God as Father, Son, and Spirit. This verse lands differently for me this year.
Sometimes, scripture doesn’t really sink in until we’ve lived through enough to receive it. Maybe it’s different this year because we’re more open to trusting without all the answers. Maybe we feel the weight of life more honestly, and with that, a deeper need for grace.
The idea of a God who surrounds us in every way doesn’t feel abstract right now. It feels necessary. In this verse, Jesus tells His disciples there’s still more He wants to share, but not yet. Not because they’re not worthy or capable, but because they’re not ready right now. That kind of patience and kindness speaks volumes.
It reminds us that God doesn’t rush us. God meets us where we are, and the Spirit walks with us, gently guiding us into what’s next.
This week, give yourself permission to not have it all figured out. Let yourself be in the process. Trust that even in the waiting, you are being led with love.
A few questions to sit with this week:
What are you still waiting to understand or see more clearly?
How can you be patient with yourself in this season?
Where might the Spirit be gently guiding you today?
The gift of the Trinity is this: God is with you, beyond, beside, and within. Take a breath. You’re not behind. You’re right where you need to be.
Peace to you always, Pastor Erin
