“Jesus said to him, “Not seven times, but, I tell you, seventy-seven times.” - Matthew 18:22

Peter offers to forgive seven times, sure that's generous. Jesus answers with a number too large to count. He's not raising the ceiling, he's taking it away.

In the parable that follows, a servant is forgiven an impossible debt. He then turns and seizes a fellow servant over a fraction of what he owed. His failure wasn't noticing the smaller debt - that debt was real. His failure was forgetting, within the same day, what it had felt like to kneel and be released and forgiven.

That's how a grudge works. We remember exactly what was done to us, and we forget exactly what we've already been forgiven. What we don't let go of, we tend to pass along to whoever's standing nearest.

The king didn't wait to feel forgiving before he acted. He canceled the debt first and let the feeling catch up. Maybe that's permission for us, too. We don't always find our way to forgiveness by feeling our way there first. Sometimes the doing comes first - the decision. The small act of releasing someone and the feeling follows behind it is moved by the action rather than leading it.

This week as you consider that story I wonder - What are you still asking someone else to repay that you yourself have already been forgiven?

A short prayer: God who cancels the unpayable, loosen my grip on what I'm still carrying. Amen.

Pastor Erin

Thank You for Making Our Ministry Fair a Success!

Thank you to everyone who helped make our Ministry Fair such a wonderful success! To all who organized behind the scenes, set up tables, represented our various ministries, and stayed to clean up, and to everyone who attended, explored new opportunities to serve, and signed up to lend their gifts. Your enthusiasm, willingness to serve, and shared gifts are what bring our TLC community to life.

Our annual TLC Giveaway is back with an exciting new twist this year! Along with our usual book collection, we are also accepting gently used small appliances and tools. If you have items in your home, garage, or workshop that you no longer need, please bring them to the church during the week of September 28.

Then, be sure to join us on Sunday, October 4 for our expanded Books, Appliances, and Tools Giveaway as we share these blessings with our church family and community.

Our kitchen stove and oven have served TLC faithfully through countless youth programs, pancake breakfasts, community meals, and church gatherings—but after many years of use, it’s time for an upgrade!

We’re raising funds to purchase a new commercial stove and oven for our kitchen. If you’d like to help, please place your donation in an envelope marked “Kitchen Stove Fund.” Every contribution will help us continue gathering around good food and fellowship for years to come.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make our Diaper Drive such a wonderful success! Your generous donations have directly supported and blessed many families within our local community. We are deeply grateful for your continuous care, kindness, and dedication to helping our neighbors in need.
