“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” - John 1:1

Before anything else existed - before light, before land, before a single living thing - there was relationship. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Before creation, before us, there was already a connection so close John can barely find language for it.

Out of that relationship, everything else comes into being. "All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being." After we read this, John tells us what that means for us: "What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people." The connection at the heart of God spills out into life, into light - and that light is for all people.

That's good news for a world, and a church, that so often feels fragmented. We live disconnected lives - busy, distracted, isolated even in a crowd. But the light that shone in the beginning still shines now, and darkness has never overtaken it. Connection isn't something we manufacture from nothing; it's something, to which, we are invited back.

As we step into Rally Day this next week, let’s remember the deeper truth underneath all our programs and sign-up sheets. We are not just building a calendar of activities. We are practicing and participating in something God started "in the beginning". We are drawing people out of isolation and into life, into light, and into each other.

So as you think about where you might connect this year, whether it’s a small group, a ministry team, a committee, a new friendship in the pews - remember that the light is already shining. We just get to walk toward it, together.

I am glad to be connected with you all on this journey,

Pastor Erin

One Service at 10:00am on September 13!

September 13 is a special combined Rally Sunday and TLC Ministry Fair! We are gathering for one worship service at 10:00am, followed by a time of fellowship, snacks, and fun for all ages—including a bounce house and lawn games for the kids. Take time to explore our various ministries that will be set up in the Fellowship Hall and to discover new ways to serve and to get connected with our community for the exciting year ahead!

What is the Ministry Fair?

Once a year, our various ministries and service opportunities gather in one place so you can see, in one morning, the many ways our congregation lives out our faith - and find where you might fit in. No experience or big commitment required. Come browse, ask questions, meet the people already involved, and see a familiar face who can point you toward something that matches your time and interests. Whether you have an hour a month or a heart for something specific, there is a place for you.

No Adult Forum This Sunday

With Rally Day and the Ministry Fair happening this Sunday, Adult Forum will take a break for the week. We’ll resume the following Sunday and hope you’ll join us then.
